  1. Minutes were approved from last month.

 

  1. Discussed the claims information from July 1996 through March 2003.  There has been a 22% rate increase.  Looked at the graph with projected monthly cost per employee at $533.06.

 

  1. Janet May reported on the eight meetings that she has had with employees concerning insurance.  Some of the retirees were unhappy about being moved to the PPO Plan.  She reminded everyone that the forms are due by June 2.

 

  1. New bill was passed so that recertification of dependent children is no long required.

 

  1. A new Governor order states that New Mexico State employeesÕ insurance will include domestic partners.  This order does not affect NMSU; it only applies to state of New Mexico employees.

 

  1. A motion to recommend to ACAP that they support further study into retiree benefits of RAC and hire someone to do an actuary study.  We need numbers to compare costs to get in and to continue in order to determine if it is possible or feasible.  The study will show 1) liability for retirees in the future; and 2) the cost to go into the plan. All members of the Insurance Committee voted for this motion except for one who abstained.  Tina will take this motion to ACAP on May 8.
