Student Ambassador
|
Thanks for your interest in the American Indian program (AIP) Student Ambassador Program. Similar to most programs on campus involving NMSU students and recruitment, AIP student ambassadors are hosts to prospective Native American NMSU students. These guests who visit our campus come from all over the southwest region of the U.S., with different backgrounds. Therefore, ambassadors are asked to conduct campus tours, present on, “How I got into college,” or just simply share their experiences with future students. AIP ambassadors participate in big recruitment programs such as Aggie Experience, Spring Visitors’ Day and Aggie Welcome Week. These programs are just a few recruiting events that AIP is asked to participate in. Within AIP, we also have our own programs such as New Student Orientation, Native American College Day, American Indian Week and the Future American Indian Scholars program. These programs allow AIP to reach out to prospective students. There may be some travel involved such as visits to high schools, community colleges or evening programs throughout the state. Finally, ambassadors assist in phone call campaigns in the Spring semester, where they call high school students and ask if they are interested in attending NMSU. If so, they will notify the student what documents are still needed to be turned in regarding Admissions, Financial Aid and Housing. If you fit the role of being enthusiastic, outgoing and not afraid to talk to groups, then the American Indian Program is looking for volunteering individuals like you. As an ambassador, you will need to be a sophomore or above, with a cumulative gpa of a 2.50 |
