Do you have information that you can't afford to lose? Here's a tip for making sure your
information is safe...Backup any data that you can't afford to lose to "physically" seperate
drives; this includes external hard drives, zip drives, CDs, etc.

The 2008 Association of Computer & Network Support (ACANS) Planning Summit was held November 5, 2008. Information Technology (IT) personnel from New Mexico State University and its satellite campuses spent the day at Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces. Their day consisted of identifying, defining and in some cases, writing IT policy. The keynote speaker Tim Snyder, Executive Director of Innovative Digital Education and Learning in New Mexico (IDEAL-NM), enlightened the group on the direction of educational delivery. |

In keeping with Governor Bill Richardson’s initiatives to place New Mexico at the forefront of eLearning, New Mexico’s statewide distance learning management program, Blackboard Vista, was officially launched this past summer (2008). The move distinguishes New Mexico as the first state in the nation to create a statewide eLearning system for its entire constituency, including state agencies. For public schools and institutions of higher learning, the move opens statewide enrollment for Innovative Digital Education and Learning in New Mexico (IDEAL-NM) and allows them avenues to share eLearning initiatives. |

New Mexico State University will transition to Blackboard CE 8 in Fall 2009.That transition is the result of the 2005 merger of Blackboard Inc.and WebCT. As a consequent of the merger, Blackboard Inc. announced it would discontinue its support of WebCT CE 4.1 after October 2009. |
