Once the largest county in the United States, Lincoln County
was made famous by the historic Lincoln County Wars in the late
1870s. Names like Billy the Kid, Sheriff Pat Garrett, and Smokey
Bear, Fort Stanton and its Buffalo Soldiers and so much more,
help describe Lincoln County. Additionally, its beautiful forests,
crystal clear lakes, and fast skiing adds to the attraction for
outdoor sports. From fine theater productions, to fast paced
horse racing and casinos, to some of the finest artisans around,
Lincoln County is a great destination for visitors.
