  •  Albuquerque Biological Park - Rio Grande Zoo, Albuquerque Aquarium, Tingley Aquatic Park and the Rio Grande Botanic Garden and Zoo!   • Apache Point Observatory - A place where the Sun is studied! The telescopes in the observatory are used only by scientists, but it's worth the trip to see the different equipment used and to view the Tularosa Basin and White Sands National Monument.   • Bradbury Science Museum - at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Learn all about the history and technology of the Los Alamos Laboratories.   • Explora Science Center and Children's Museum - A fun and interesting place that offers hands-on, interactive exhibits in the areas of art, science and the world's cultures.   • Maxwell Museum of Anthropology - Archaeological, ethnological, archival, photo and skeletal collections from all over the world!! The only museum in the Southwest encompassing the entire history of mankind. Permanent exhibits include: "People of the Southwest" - 11,000 years of Southwest culture and "Ancestors" - Tracing human origins back 4 million years. Monthly arts and crafts demonstrations.   • New Mexico Museum of Space History - Celebrating the spirit of exploration, their mission is to educate the people of New Mexico and visitors from around the world in the history, science and technology of space, while honoring the efforts of those who have advanced our understanding of the universe. The museum complex consists of the space museum, Planetarium, IMAX Dome Theater, Hubbard Space Science Education Facility, and the International Space Hall of Fame. Come spend the day!   • Space Murals, Inc. Museum and Gift Shop - An incredible collection of artifacts that have been to space and back!! Also, an astronaut gallery, replica of the space station Freedom, over 2,500 air and space pictures and a fun Kids Corner! In Organ, NM (505) 382-0977
  • The Telephone Pioneer Museum of New Mexico - The history and technology of the telephone! Housed in a historical four story building dated back to 1906, view switchboards, teletype machines, phones, photographs and historical accounts of the telephone in New Mexico for the first 100 years of it's existence!   • Trinity Site Tour - A unique and historically interesting tour. See the site where the 1st atomic bomb was detonated in 1945! Guided tours to the site every 1st Saturday in April and October. Enterance is at White Sands Missile Range or near Socorro. Read the linked Web site for information about radiation and instructions while on the White Sands Missile Range.   • Very Large Array (VLA) /National Radio Astronomy Observatory - What's going on in the cosmos? No better place to find out than the VLA, a field of 27 giant radio telescope dishes that span across 22 miles of the San Agustin plains. On-site visitor center with displays and videos. Self-guided tours allow visitors to get up close to the antennas. Open everyday from 8:30am to sunset. Located 77 miles west of Socorro, NM on US Hwy 60. (505) 835-7000
  • War Eagles Air Museum - The War Eagles Air Museum is dedicated to collecting, restoring, and displaying historic aircraft of the WWII and the Korean Conflict eras. This unique museum pays tribute to military aviation and reminds us all of the significant role these airplanes, the pilots, and the support crews played in securing our freedom. (505) 589-2000
  • White Sands Missile Range Museum - At the White Sands Missile Range museum you can trace the origin of America's missile and space activity, find out how the atomic age began and learn about the accomplishments of scientists like Dr. Wernher von Braun and Dr. Clyde Tombaugh at White Sands. Displays also include the prehistoric cultures and the rip-roaring Old West found in southern New Mexico. The museum is open year-round. Admission is FREE. Hours on weekdays are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Closed holidays. The Missile Park is open dawn to dark seven days a week. Located at White Sands Missile Range, about 19 miles East of Las Cruces or 44 miles West of Alamogordo, on Highway 70.
