This symposium will highlight issues related to laboratory research involving potentially infectious, pathogenic or toxic agents. All researchers, administrators, employees, students and public are invited. Guest speaker Dr. John Keene, Biohaztec Associates, Inc. will provide a risk assessment approach to safely working with potentially hazardous biological materials. Our second guest, Dr. Robert Ellis, Professor and University Biosafety Officer for Colorado State University, will review risk management and strategies that have proven effective in a university environment. They will also provide information on the operation of primary containment devices. The symposium will discuss the changing regulatory environment and current challenges of biological research.
