Other Sources of Funding:

1) GSA, NMGS, and AAPG have scholarships and other funding sources available for conferences. Make sure to check the webpage of the organization sponsoring the conference for funding opportunities.

2) When applying for a grant, budget in money for conferences. Grant money can be a great source of travel funding.

3) The Graduate School offers a $250 travel grant once a year to each graduate student.

4) The department hands out scholarships at the end of the year; these can be a great way to make up for money spent at conferences.

5) The Graduate Student Council group disbursement can be used for individual purposes if ESGS approves and the required amount of community service is performed.

6) ESGS and S.G.E. have money available from fundraising. It may be possible to get money from these sources.

7) It may be possible to get funding through the Geological Sciences department, through the College of Arts and Sciences, or through the NMSU foundation.

8) Talk to your advisor about other options as well.
