Receiving Funding from the Graduate Student Council

 

  1. Be prepared, you should have evidence that you are presenting. 
  2. Talk to ESGS and make sure they approve your funding request –this means you have to have participated or will be participating in group activities.
  3. Once ESGS approves, you must fill out the appropriations form available at https://www.nmsu.edu/~wwwgsc/appropform.html
  4. You will take this form and all of your information about your conference to a Graduate Student Council meeting, during which you should talk to the treasurer of the GSC.  The GSC meets twice a month; talk to Morgan for details.

 

Individual Disbursement

If you want to request money this must be done before the last meeting in the semester.

 

  1. You are only allowed to make one request per semester.  This only applies to presentations at conferences or competitions.
  2. Submit your request during the meeting; you must show evidence that you are presenting at the meeting and turn in the appropriations form.
  3. If you receive money from the Graduate Student Council you must participate in GRAS  - Graduate Research and Arts Symposium, where you should present a talk or poster.  See Morgan for details. ($$$There’s a cash reward for top presenters $$$)
  4. You will only receive 50% of the amount you request, up to $500.  $500 is the maximum amount available for the entire year. You can receive 100% of your total if it is under $200. 

 

Group Disbursement

This covers group field trips, conferences (individuals and groups), supplies (excluding computer equipment and furniture), research, books, journals, and possibly short courses (see Morgan for details). It does not include donations, prizes, or food and beverages (unless for all students and not just those students of our club).


Fall

 

If you want to request money this must be done before the last meeting in the fall semester.

 

  1. ESGS receives $200 for being chartered.
  2. ESGS must attain 5 points* to receive an additional $200.  These points are received by attending GSC meetings, participating in any volunteer activity that is run by the GSC, on-campus and off-campus involvement*, participating in a GSC committee meeting, or acting as a GSC officer.

Spring

 

If you want to request money this must be done before the second to last meeting in the spring semester.

 

  1. ESGS can receive an initial $200 with 15 points. Points acquired in the Fall semester carry over to the Spring semester.
  2. An additional $200 can be received after 25 points have been attained.
  3. An additional $200 can be received after 30 points have been attained.

 

If approved the money will be deposited into the ESGS’s I-3 account.  SAVE ALL YOUR RECEIPTS!!! In order to access this money you need to have all of your receipts.  You must see the Comptroller, Lydia Quintana, in the ASNMSU office to receive your money.
