The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of the TC-26 Microprocessor-Controlled Vehicle Detector in real-world environments. Two TC-26 detectors were installed in November, 1992 at the intersection of US-33 (Lincolnway) and Logan Street in Mishawaka of LaPorte District. The detectors were incorporated to detect vehicle presence for the purpose of registering a call to the traffic signal controller. This device was selected the approach to the intersection is on a concrete arch bridge deck where the conventional detection loops or magnetometer probes cannot be installed.

The manufacturer of this device is Microwave Sensors, Inc. The performance of the two detectors was evaluated during a three-year period from November 1992 to September 1995. The evaluation included detailed periodic field inspections to ensure proper detection operation.
