There were many things taught in this English 111G class. The main thing I have learned is how to write. The three categories within writing are revision, research, and audience. After learning about these I have become a better writer because I have applied these things to the essays I have written this semester.

I read much more critically and closely now. The revision process has helped me to critique my work more closely. I learned to read my work thoroughly before turning it in. I had to revise the first essay I turned it. The problem I was having was Introductory Clauses and Coordinating Conjunctions. I went to the writing center and they helped me with this problem. For the rest of the essays, I read through them many times to make sure that I did not repeat any of the mistakes from the previous essay.

After doing the research paper, I now know how to find research in the library on campus. This was the first time that I stepped into the library. The assignments I had to do helped me to put my paper together. For example, assignment three asked a series of questions that made me think more about the topic I was researching. Also the many different types of sources I had to use made me familiar with both libraries.

I have also learned how to determine who my audience is going to be. With the first two essays, I had a hard time deciding who the audience was. My English teacher explained to me how to find an audience and how to write to them. She explained that I should stay with one pronoun through out the essay. She told me that I am supposed to know a little bit about my audience in order to write to them.

Essay two was the greatest help to me. In this essay the audience problem was brought to my attention. More importantly though, I learned about the writing that I will be doing in my future of clothing textiles and fashion merchandising. For that paper, I interviewed one of my professors. She brought to my attention how important it is to be able to write well. In this field, people write books and articles in magazines.

All these things that I have learned will be very helpful to me in the future. I will remember all the things taught on how to write better, and I will apply them to all the papers I have to write in the future.
