AEROSPACE STUDIES
AERO 121. U.S. Military Forces I 1 cr. (1+1.5P)
Introduction to U.S. military practices and policies and to USAF drill customs and ceremonies; doctrine, mission, and total force structure of the Air Force.
AERO 122. U.S. Military Forces II 1 cr. (1+1.5P)
Introduction to various major organizations within the USAF; a survey of other armed forces of the U.S. military.
AERO 221. The Development of Air Power I 1 cr. (1+1.5P)
The beginnings of manned flight; from Kitty Hawk to Versailles; the Interwar years; air power during World War II.
AERO 222. The Development of Air Power II 1 cr. (1+1.5P)
The Berlin Airlift; the Korean War; air power in the Middle East; the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962; air power in Southeast Asia.
AERO 301. Air Force Management I 3 cr. (3+1.5P)
Introduction to the principles of war and their applications; USAF interoffice/organization communication, leadership vs. management, and professional officer development. Prerequisites: AERO 121, AERO 122, AERO 221, and AERO 222, or consent of instructor. Same as MGT 301
AERO 302. Air Force Management II 3 cr. (3+1.5P)
Fundamentals of total quality management; USAF interoffice/organization communication, officer and enlisted performance evaluation, military ethics, and civilian personnel management. Prerequisites: AERO 301 or consent of instructor. Same as MGT 302.
AERO 401. National Security Forces in Contemporary
American Society I
3 cr. (3+1.5P)
The military profession; evolution and interaction with the civilian sector of society; the Uniform Code of Military Justice and military justice system; current USAF organization and structure. Prerequisites: AERO 301, AERO 302, or consent of instructor.
AERO 402. National Security Forces in Contemporary
American Society II
3 cr. (3+1.5P)
Variables in the formulation and implementation of national security policy; case studies in policy-making and organizational considerations; precommissioning concepts; current USAF trends and policies. Prerequisite: AERO 401 or consent of instructor.
AERO 000. Leadership Laboratory 0 cr. (1.5P)
Lab is an integral and mandatory portion of the aerospace studies curriculum. Within the framework of a cadet corps, it provides a progression of experiences designed to develop each student's leadership potential and serve as an orientation to active duty.
