On-Campus Employment
Regardless of financial need, any currently enrolled, full-time student in good standing may apply for a part-time job with an employer in the academic community. Many jobs are preprofessional in nature and offer academically related experience.
Off-Campus Employment
Part- and full-time jobs in Las Cruces, as well as White Sands Missile Range, and the NASA Johnson Space Center, requiring general or very specific qualifications, are listed and referrals are made for students and their spouses.
Internships
Information is available on internship opportunities offered by government, nonprofit organizations, and business/industry. During the summer months and throughout the academic year, interns may arrange for academic credit for internships.
Services for Students with disABILITIES
Services for Students with disABILITIES (SSD) at New Mexico State University provides reasonable accommodation to qualified NMSU students in accordance with state and federal laws. A student requests accommodation by initiating the "Petition for Services with disABILITIES" with a qualified practitioner and the Student Information Form that must be submitted and discussed with the SSD Coordinator. A review committee examines the documentation for recommendations and approval of the appropriate accommodation(s). New students requesting assistance should discuss their needs with the coordinator before admission to expedite coordination of services. All continuing students requesting accommodations must discuss their needs with the coordinator before each semester to facilitate continuance of appropriate services. Speech and Hearing Center
Combining instruction and service, the center provides training for students majoring in speech/language pathology and audiology, and at the same time serves children and adults in need of speech, language, and hearing testing and therapy.
Referrals are accepted from all areas (self, medical, school, nonprofessionals). Services for all clients are charged on a semester or summer session basis. All services are supervised by professional personnel holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Student Health Center
The university maintains a well-equipped health clinic on campus, with hospitalization available in the community.
The health fee is included in tuition for all students carrying 12 or more credits. Part-time undergraduate students taking 6 credits or more per semester may pay the health fee at registration to become eligible for medical care. Graduate students should refer to the

Part-time foreign students must pay the health fee for Student Health Center services.
A hospital and accident insurance policy is available to students through the university. More information may be obtained from the Student Health Center by calling 646-1512.
Student Organizations and Programs
The Office of Student Organizations and Programs advises and assists in the coordination of activities and events sponsored by students or student organizations. Activity approvals and contracts for these events are processed by this office as well as student organization chartering.
