Application of generalizations and principles of garment construction to varied fabrics and designs. Analysis and evaluation of apparel merchandise with emphasis on the quality of garment construction.

Fundamental principles and procedures for successful merchandising of fashion goods, responsibilities of buyers, fashion trends, consumer demands, and merchandising arithmetic. Prerequisites: ACCT 201, CTFM 372, and CTFM 474.

Theory and application of design in various fabrics and styles using three-dimensional forms in solving problems and developing designs. Prerequisites: CTFM261 and CTFM273.

Application of flat pattern and draping techniques in the design of apparel. Prerequisites: CTFM472, CTFM 476, or consent of instructor.
CTFM 484. Clothing for Special Needs | 3 cr. (1+4P) |
Selection, adaptation, and design of clothing that is functional and attractive for special needs populations such as for active sportswear, the handicapped, the elderly, and various specialty populations. Prerequisite: CTFM 472 and CTFM 476.
CTFM 489. Fashion Markets | 2 cr. |
Investigation of fashion merchandising activities through market visits in major fashion centers. Supervised by resident faculty. A report is required. Prerequisite: CTFM 372 or consent of instructor. May be repeated for additional credit.
