BCS 110G. Introduction to Computerized Information Systems3 cr.
Computerized information systems, their economic and social implications. Introduction to microcomputers, personal productivity software, and computer programming. Credit not allowed for both BCS110G and CS110G.
BCS 210. Business Computing Using BASIC3 cr.
Introduction to the BASIC language and allied software used to solve business problems. Prerequisite: CS110G or consent of instructor.
BCS 222. Computational Algorithms in Business3 cr.
Advanced topics in business data processing, including assembly language, data structures, fourth generation languages. Prerequisite: MATH 142. Corequisite: MATH230.
BCS 271. File Processing Techniques3 cr.
Structure and use of COBOL with business applications. Prerequisite: BCS 222.
BCS 338. Business Information Systems I3 cr.
Application, design and use of computerized information systems in business environment. Prerequisite: BCS 110G or CS110G or consent of instructor. Not open to BCS majors for degree credit.
BCS 350. Systems Analysis and Design3 cr.
Analysis and logical design of business data processing, management information, and management control systems. Prerequisite: BCS 271.
BCS 371. Advanced File Processing Techniques (Using COBOL)3 cr.
Advanced COBOL programming techniques. Copy libraries, character manipulation, subprograms, file update and maintenance. Prerequisite or corequisite: BCS 350.
BCS 450. Business Policy and Management Information Systems3 cr.
Integration of the MIS function with the overall operations of the organization. Coordination and documentation of an MIS system to facilitate decision making. Prerequisite: BCS350 or consent of instructor.
BCS 455. Design of On-Line Business Systems3 cr.
Analysis and design of on-line real-time computerized business systems. Prerequisite: BCS371 or consent of instructor.
BCS 458. Business Information Systems II3 cr.
Advanced topics in decision support systems, expert systems, data base management systems, data communications, and other current computerized business decision tools. Prerequisite: BCS338 or consent of instructor.
BCS 460. Data Communications and Networks (s)3 cr.
Data communications for business computer systems. Data link protocols, media selection, distributed processing, wide area network design and management. Prerequisite: BCS 271 or consent of instructor.
BCS 465. Business Systems Simulation (f)3 cr.
Methods used to simulate business systems. Model design, implementation, testing and sensitivity analysis. Prerequisite: BCS271 or consent of instructor.
BCS 475. Database Management Systems3 cr.
Design and use, application and analysis of a database management system in a business environment. Prerequisite: BCS371 or consent of instructor.
BCS 490. Selected Topics1-3 cr.
Current topics in business systems analysis. Prerequisites vary according to the topics being covered.
BCS 498. Independent Study1-3 cr.
Individual studies directed by consenting faculty with prior approval of the department head. Prerequisites: junior or above standing and consent of instructor. A maximum of 3 credits may be earned.
