MAJOR: Philosophy

A major in philosophy prepares students for professional education particularly in law and theology, and for graduate work in philosophy and related disciplines.

Philosophy courses provide an opportunity for students to enter into dialogue with great thinkers of the past and present. Critical thinking is emphasized.

Departmental Requirements

PHIL 201G, Introduction to Philosophy3
PHIL 211G, Informal Logic, or PHIL 312, Formal Logic3
PHIL 220, Individual Conduct and Society or PHIL 223, Ethics3

Twenty additional credits in philosophy numbered 300 or above.

Electives: Sufficient to bring total credits to 128, including 55 upper-division.
