Admission to a Major
Students planning to earn a degree in the College of Business Administration and Economics at New Mexico State University enroll in their freshman and sophomore years in the general prebusiness major and are advised through the college's Advising Center. Transfer students from other units of NMSU and from other institutions are also assigned to the Advising Center as prebusiness majors until eligible for admission to a specific major. All students except those pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Economics are required to complete the requirements for the Associate Degree in Prebusiness. These requirements, which are listed below, must be substantially completed before the student is permitted to take upper division courses (that is, those numbered 300 or above) offered by the College of Business Administration and Economics.
