DEGREE: Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering
Industrial engineers design and analyze production, service, and distribution systems for manufacturing, hospitals, utilities, retailing, government agencies or research organizations. They use knowledge and skills in engineering, mathematics, and physical and social sciences along with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to monitor and improve such systems. Industrial engineering is unique among engineering disciplines in its focus on the human element. As a result, further opportunities in management often develop for industrial engineers. The fully ABET-accredited undergraduate program is the only one in New Mexico. Students graduating from the program receive broad background in engineering, management, mathematics, and the social sciences, and are prepared to join the work force or continue advanced study.
