General Information:
Detailed information regarding benefits can be found in the New Mexico State University Policy Manual or in the individual insurance program brochures.
Unless otherwise stated, all paperwork required to enroll in your benefits must be received by the Employee Benefits Office no later than your 31st calendar day of regular employment. Premium payments begin in the pay period in which coverage begins.
All Academic or 9, 10 and 11-month staff pay premiums/make plan contributions over the academic year, unless otherwise stated.
On January 1, 2005, the university has transitioned to Banner. This system enables the unversity to begin the transition of having one operating system on campus for students, faculty and staff. More information regarding the project including timetables for additional implementation may be found at ERP.nmsu.edu.
All employees are required to activate their global ID and passwords at my.nmsu.edu. By doing this employees will be able to review email, report their time and leave on-line and review employment and benefit enrollment information on-line.
New Mexico State University observes the following holidays:
Some employees may be required to work on holidays. Normally, these employees are given another day off in lieu of the holiday. Please contact your supervisor for more information.
9-month faculty are not eligible for annual leave. Regular employees (including 12-month faculty) are eligible to receive 22 days of annual leave each fiscal year (July – June) or 7.34 hours per pay period. Employees working less than 40 hours per week will have their leave prorated based on their FTE (full-time equivalency). Each July 1st, employees may carry forward up to 30 days (240 hours) of annual leave. Leave is accrued from date of hire and is available for usage as it is earned. Supervisors must approve the usage of annual leave. Please see your supervisor for leave request and reporting of its usage procedures. All leave records and balances are maintained online within the Banner System. If you have any questions regarding the amount of annual leave that is available to you, please contact your supervisor.
Upon termination of employment, employees are eligible to be paid for up to 240 hours of their annual leave balance at their normal hourly rate.
9-month faculty are not eligible for sick leave. Regular employees (including 12-month faculty) are eligible to receive up to 12 days per fiscal year of sick leave or 4 hours per pay period. Employees working less than 40 hours per week will have their leave prorated based on their FTE (full-time equivalency). Each July 1st, employees may carry forward up to 100 days (800 hours) of sick leave. Leave is accrued from date of hire and is available for usage as it is earned. Please see your supervisor for leave request and reporting of its usage procedures. All leave records and balances are maintained on-line within the Banner System. If you have any questions regarding the amount of sick leave that is available to you, please contact your supervisor.
Upon termination of employment, employees are eligible to receive payment of sick leave if their balances are between 600-800 hours at ½ of their hourly rate. The maximum amount of hours payable is 200 hours.
