Preparation for the Technology required for the Degree
- The BHCS program at New Mexico State University is delivered entirely via distance education techniques. These courses require access to specific technology.
- Complete the Distance Education Self-Evaluation at the College of Extended Learning's website to see if you might be a good candidate for an online-only degree program.
- Next, complete the Technical Skills Self-Evaluation inventory at the College of Extended Learning's website to identify what level of expertise you would be bring to completing such a degree.
- For program specific issues, visit our "What's Involved?" pages. Students who are interested in the BHCS program but do not own a computer with Internet capability, should contact the College of Health and Social Services at (505) 646-3526 to clarify usage and availability expectations.
Transfer Student Information
Note: These are required of all students applying for BHCS admission.
- You are eligible for admission to NMSU as a transfer student if you have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and are eligible to return to the college or university you last attended.
- Students who have completed fewer than 30 credits at the college/university level must meet the same requirements as entering freshmen. If this applies to you, click here.
- An official transcript must be sent directly to NMSU (transcripts issued to a student will not be accepted as official; students will be asked to submit another copy.). Indicate to the sending office that the transcript for the applicant must be sent to: NMSU Admissions Office, MSC 3A, P.O. Box 30001, Las Cruces, NM 88003-8001.
Withdrawal from New Mexico State University
- Withdrawal from any NMSU campus is an official procedure that must be approved as indicated on the withdrawal form. All such withdrawals will be registered on the student's transcript. It is the student's responsibility to initiate withdrawal from the university and to obtain necessary signatures. Students who leave without following the official procedure are graded appropriately by the instructor. Withdrawal begins at the Registrar's Office. If you wish to withdraw, please call (505) 646-3413 for information and applicable course dates.
Specific Application Instructions for BHCS Students enrollment
- "Campus where you plan to enroll" section - Warning: In order to register completely, students must check the box labeled "Las Cruces Extension Service". Please do not check any other box.
- Degree and Major: In the 'Degree expected from NMSU' section, it is not necessary to select a degree; however, please be sure to enter the code 'HCS' in the box next to 'Intended major field of study'.
- Institution Names: Please spell out names of any colleges or universities attended. Please do not abbreviate.
