Assisting Faculty With Their Instructional Delivery The CHSS Media & Production Facility

Alert - Forms!!Faculty Technology Needs Form...To better provide faculty and instructor support in the use of the HSS classrooms and provided equipment, we have created the online version of the Faculty Projected Technology Needs Form. Please complete this for each unique section of each course you are teach by the end of the first week of the Spring Semester. Additionally, if you expect your students to receive course-related assistance from the staff of the MRC, the staff needs this form, syllabi and any other documents that inform them of your students' potential assistance needs.

Instructional Delivery Support - Distance Education

If you (and your graduate teaching assistant, if this applies) are supplementing your course with WebCT or delivering your course entirely via WebCT, MRC staff can continue assist you after you have completed your basic, intensive training through ICT Training Services. The deployment of quizzes using WebCT or Respondus, conversion of your PowerPoint presentation to additional formats such as Flash (through Camtasia Studio 3) or Impatica, conversion of instructional videos to password-protected streaming formats and other enhancements can be completed through the MRC. Samples of these can be found on our MRC's Documents and Links page.

Faculty-initiated includes the reserved use of computers in HSS 329 or in HSS 318A, which graduate teaching students can also use. The purpose of these stations is to offer applications and capabilities not necessarily available in the CHSS faculty member's office. Faculty also initiate their use of the center by visiting, calling or emailing the facility. Some uses, such as check-out "projectors" and check-out "laptop computers", may require advance training or consultation.

  • Use of the Faculty/GA production stations
  • Use of color laser printer for instruction-related "jobs" of less than 100 pages.
  • Use of large format printer - supply replenishment covered by department/unit*
  • Use of high-speed document scanner - prepare single- or double-sized sheet-based documents to PDF for online use.
  • Request for the training of students, in classroom setting, in the use of equipment before use in instructor- or grant-required projects. Can also include instruction on more effective use, such as PowerPoint, etc.
  • Request for consultation for videotaping students' interview and group therapy simulations. Will burn taped episodes to DVD and/or convert to web-streaming formats.
