Ground Cover Evaluation

Recent observations in 1997, and since, suggest small grains and Vitova
blend (rye, barley, subclover, common vetch, sweet clover, crimson clover,
alfalfa, mustard, carrot, coriander, babies breath, buckwheat, baby blue eyes,
bishop flower, fennel, yarrow, and sweet alyssum) harbor a large diversity of
primary consumers, parasitoids and predators. Out of 19 arthropod classes,
rye and wheat had nine and Vitova blend and rye had five significantly higher
densities of primary consumers, predators and parasitoids than weed checks.
