As the state's land grant institution, New Mexico State University provides teaching, research, and service to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of New Mexico. The Board of Regents, a group of five members, one of whom is a student, are appointed by the Governor of New Mexico, hold five regular meetings each year and provide oversight of the university.
