Employee Council Nomination Process
2010-11 NMSU Employee Council Nominations
(Open from October 15, 2010 until October 30, 2010)
The NMSU Employee Council is seeking nominations for voting representatives and alternates to replace members with expiring terms. Employee Council membership consists of NMSU employees from the Las Cruces area, Community Colleges located outside of Las Cruces, and employees from other areas outside Las Cruces.
The NMSU Employee Council has the following openings for the upcoming term for those not covered by a bargaining unit. Currently, there are no expiring terms for voting non-exempt employees; but we do need non-exempt alternate members.
- 1 Faculty Employees
- 5 Exempt Employees
- 4 Non-Exempt Alternate Employees
- 1 Employee from Outside Las Cruces Area (includes faculty or staff)
Employee Council's Responsibilities:
Investigates matters related to the policies and procedures of the university; uses results of these investigations to make recommendations to the president of the university.
Provides communication between the staff and the administration of the university; provides communication among the several parts of the university staff.
Terms of Service:
Elected Council members shall serve a three-year term beginning in February 2011.
Eligibility for Nomination:
Any full time employee can nominate a representative.
Representatives must be full-time employees.
Faculty includes academic department heads.
Non-exempt representatives cannot be represented by a collective bargaining unit.
Self nomination is acceptable.
Underrepresented Areas:
The following organizations are currently not represented on the NMSU Employee Council in any employee classification. Nominations of employees from these organizations are encouraged but nomination from any organization is acceptable.

- Athletics
- Business Admin & Econ College Exec Vice President and Provost Offices
- Library
- New Mexico Dept of Agriculture
- Office of Facilities Admin & Services
- Planning, Phy Resources, Univ Relations
- University Advancement Office
