The Big Event: Paying it Forward
The Associated Students of New Mexico State University, the elected government of the student body of NMSU, represents students on city, university, state and federal levels. ASNMSU orchestrates The Big Event each spring, providing an opportunity for students to show the City of Las Cruces and its citizens just how much the community's support means to Aggies.
The 2014 Big Event took place on Saturday, March 15, and drew more than 1,200 student volunteers. They fanned out across the city, heading for retirement homes, non-profit organizations, parks and recreation areas, just to name a few.
The Big Event is one of many "make-a-difference" service opportunities provided throughout the academic year to NMSU students. Other examples include Keep State Great, a campus beautification project, and initiatives focused on sustainability and conservation.
ASNMSU is committed to serving the student body of NMSU and enhancing the college experience by providing valuable programs, events, and services to the students of New Mexico State University.
