New Mexico State University

Through innovative hands-on activities, NMSU professor Ken Martin brings Wall Street to University Avenue.

Known to students as an exceptional educator, Regents professor Ken Martin guides students through the world of finance.

He teaches courses in equity asset valuation, corporate financial management and financial information technology.

For more than 10 years, Martin has taught the innovative course “Financial Information Technology” or “FIT,” where students take financial theory and put it to practice analyzing real financial data using spreadsheet software. And although students have described the course as “Excel on Steroids,” they have found it to be extremely valuable outside of the classroom.

He also is the current director of NMSU’s Student-Managed Investment Funds, where students manage nearly $90,000 from the Wetherbe Fund.

He is one of the faculty advisors for the NMSU student chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA), the largest Latino association for business professionals and students with chapters nationwide and over 15,000 members.

A nationally respected expert in financial markets and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, Martin has published numerous articles in highly respected academic journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Finance.
