Monday Morning Memo

December 1, 2008

Dear NMSU Campus Community:

Good morning and welcome back from our fall break! I hope this memo finds you refreshed and ready for the last two weeks of the 2008 fall semester. I know that this might be a stressful time of the year for faculty, students, and staff, but let's maintain our focus and remember: winter break is almost here.

This week I would like to share with you some of the great work of ASNMSU, which is wrapping up a productive and exciting semester. As in the past, over the past four and a half months they have served the students of NMSU in numerous ways. Homecoming was a big success and ASNMSU is already looking forward to and planning next year's events. I want to thank Justin O'Connell and the wonderful ASNMSU staff for their hard work.

"Keep State Great" was a successful ASNMSU event and a chance for students to show their support for New Mexico State. ASNMSU's governmental affairs department did a great job hosting "24 Hours of Politics" prior to the presidential election. What a fantastic way to keep our student body informed about the issues at hand. Finally, the ASNMSU Road Runner team just finished their annual event, "Glow in the Dark Capture the Flag," which had a strong turn out.

ASNMSU is looking forward to next semester, when they will host the "Big Event," "Spring Fling," "Movie Night on the Field," and ASNMSU Elections. Also, as you return for the Spring Semester, watch for the new flat screen televisions that will be installed in the Corbett Center Student Union. These television sets will be used to keep you informed of the various events going on around campus. They are just another way ASNMSU is working to serve students.

As we approach finals week, I would like to wish all of our students good luck with their finals, and to anticipate a safe and happy winter break. I also would like to encourage every Aggie to enjoy themselves over the festivities of the coming week but to be safe. The holidays are a time for celebration, and I want to see each and every one of you culminating this semester in a successful manner.

Have a great week!
