Subject: Enhanced Emergency Mass Notification Service
In order to better serve the university community, NMSU has enhanced its
emergency notification service with the recent acquisition of a
state-of-the-art, multi-modal emergency mass notification system. This
system ensures that students, faculty, and staff receive critical
emergency notifications of disasters, hazardous weather, and other
threats to the safety of the university community. When activated, the
system transmits an emergency notification via text message, university
e-mail/personal e-mail, or cell phone/standard telephone (landline) to
all students, faculty and staff who have registered for the emergency
notification service.
NMSU’s enhanced notification service augments existing forms of
communication, which include mass email messaging to NMSU email
recipients, postings to university web pages, and announcements on the
“dial in” emergency information phone line - (575) 646-1000.
***Registering Your Emergency Notification Information***
In order for you to be notified of emergencies through this system, you
must register your contact information at the university’s secure,
emergency notification registration web page,
https://accounts.nmsu.edu/emergency . With the exception of your
university email address, which is automatically populated by NMSU
central systems, you must enter all other contact information.
In addition to emergency notifications, you will occasionally receive
notification test messages and reminders to update your information for
the emergency mass notification system.
***Activation Date***
The system will become operational on March 14, 2009.
