Homecoming at the Zuhl Museum
30th Annual Grant County Rolling Stones Gem and Mineral Show
Date: August 31, September 1 & 2, 2013 (Labor Day Weekend)
Time: 9am-5pm (Saturday) 10am-5pm (Sunday) & 10am-4pm (Monday)
Location: Grant County Business and Conference Center (next to Ace Hardware)
3031 Hwy 180 E, Silver City, NM
This year’s show will feature over forty vendors from New Mexico, Arizona and California. They will display a wide variety of rocks, minerals, gems, beads, and lapidary tools and equipment, as well as many different kinds of jewelry. For kids of all ages, there is the Wheel of Fortune, where every spin wins a prize. A Silent Auction of rock and mineral specimens will be held throughout the show. Educational displays will be provided by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and by NMSU's Zuhl Collection.
The Lions Club “restaurant” will sell food and drinks.
Experts will lead daily field trips to local sites, weather permitting. Morning trips will be educational, featuring local geology and mining history. Afternoon trips will allow opportunities for digging and collecting rocks and minerals. Participants should bring a vehicle fueled for visiting the sites, plus plenty of drinking water.
Las Cruces Arbor Day
Date: Saturday April 6, 2013
Location: Outside the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science, Downtown Mall
Las Cruces Arbor Day is an annual event planned by theKeep Las Cruces Beautiful office with help of City staff and volunteers.
It will take place outside between the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science and the Branigan Cultural Center during the Farmers' Market.
There will be a ceremonial tree planting at 10:30am outside as well.

The Museum Rocks: Gem & Mineral Show
Date: Saturday February 23-Sunday Februrary 24, 2013
Time: Feb. 23 (9am-5pm), Feb. 24 (10am-4pm)
Location: New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum
A new gem, rock, and mineral show hosted by the Friends of the NM Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, NM.
Admission to The Museum Rocks was $4 per person, aged 4 and up. This got admission not just to the Gem and Mineral show, but access to the entire museum as well. over 1200 people attended this first time show!

Apollo 17 40th Anniversary Commemoration
Date: October, 12, 2012
Location: New Mexico Museum of Space History
Dr. Harrison Schmitt, one of the last men to walk on the moon and the only geologist to ever set foot on the lunar surface, was the guest of honor.
400-500 school youth were in attendance.
The Zuhl Museum had a booth with some hands-on activities and a real meteorite!!

The Zuhl Museum had a booth at the Expo to show students the wonders of the Zuhl Collection and participate in some fun, stress relieving activities.

The Show featured local minerals, but included specimens from around the world. Diverse vendors offered everything from rough cutting materials to handcrafted jewelry. Special exhibits wereoffered by the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, as well as the New Mexico State University Zuhl Collection, which specializes in petrified wood.
Admission to the show was free of charge and had activities for all ages and interests, including field trips each day.
