Viewing Your Homepage

Now that you have created your own homepage, it is time to view what you have created on the World Wide Web. In this lesson you will learn how to

  • open a new browser window

  • view your homepage using Netscape
You are already in Netscape using this tutorial,so you do not need to perform any preliminary steps before starting this lesson. Simply start by performing the key stroke combination in step 1.

  1. Press Ctrl+n
  2. A new browser window opens to the New Mexico State University homepage.
  3. Click in the Location field near the top of your screen.

  4. Type in http://web.nmsu.edu/~User_ID/
In the above step, User_ID is the name you use to log in to UNIX. For example if your name is John Doe and your User ID is jdoe, your URL would be http://web.nmsu.edu/~jdoe/

You are now at your homepage! You should see the sample page you designed in Lesson 3. Now that you know how to create a homepage and view it, the next step is making changes to or editing your homepage.

Go to Lesson 5.
