Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) maintains records to help facilitate maintenance and use of NMSU resources. These resources are telephone, dialups, voicemail, information databases, computer access, email records and web access records. Where applicable, records are retained based on the State of New Mexico and the United States Government's record retention policies. All other records are kept only for the time necessary to reasonably support the systems. With appropriate administrative approval, access to these records can be made via written request to the CIO of Information & Communication Technologies or designee. The request must be specific in nature stating which records, times, etc. Requests are customarily made through Personnel, the NMSU Police or the University General Counsel. As specified by the NMSU Board of Regents Policy, the university's internal auditor has unrestricted access to these records and is not required to submit written requests. ICT abides by all applicable privacy and personal information security laws including FERPA, HIPAA GLB.
