HOPI TRIBE COLLEGE INTERNSHIP

Two paid, college, summer internships are being offered through the
Hopi Tribe, to assist in the Homolovi Park Project. Attached to this

OUTREACH NOTICE: U.S. FOREST SERVICE

The Rocky Mountain Research Station will soon be advertising for a
GS-0404-04 or -05, Biological Science Technician (Plants). The position
will be filled as a Temporary, summer position. The position will be
located at the Rocky Mountain Research Station Laboratory in Boise, Idaho.
This notification is being circulated to inform prospective applicants
of this upcoming opportunity and to determine interest in the position.

CONAHEC FUNDING FOR A SEMETER ABOARD

With the support of The Scholar Ship®, the Consortium
for North American Higher Education Collaboration
(CONAHEC) is offering two US $5,000 scholarships per
semester to students from Mexico the U.S. and Canada
to study abroad for a semester onboard this exciting
program!The Scholar Ship is a semester-long academic
program aboard a dedicated passenger ship that traverses
the globe as an oceangoing campus. Students and staff
from around the world together form a transnational
learning community designed to develop their
intercultural competencies and leadership skills.
Classroom learning, experiential activities, and
residential programs are key elements of community
life aboard The Scholar Ship not common to traditional
land-based programs. As a result, students acquire
intercultural skills essential to success in the 21st
century workforce and a global network of contacts
crucial for conducting business in our globalized
economy.
This worldwide voyage aboard The Scholar Ship will
occur in September 2008 and will last 16 weeks,
embarking in Amsterdam, Netherlands (September 5,
2008); and debarking in Hong Kong (December 23, 2008).

Important: Make sure to include the 250-500 word essay for
scholarship competition as indicated in the application
form since this essay that is evaluated for the purposes
of the CONAHEC Scholarship Competition. Please note:
The regular application fee of $50 US will be waived for
CONAHEC sponsored students.
* Obtain official academic transcript(s)
* Include at least one letter of recommendation.
* If applicable, provide evidence of English-language
proficiency (minimum TOEFL score of 550 and/or IELTS of 6.0)
Speakers of English as their first language are the only
ones exempt from taking a language proficiency test.

Additional considerations:

* You must be at least 18 years of age by the time of
embarkation to participate.
* For the purpose of CONAHEC Scholarship Competition,
preference will be given to students who attend CONAHEC

THE LONGEST WALK FUNDRAISER & OUTREACH CAMPAIGN

During April 6th - April 21st the Longest Walk 2 will be coming through
New Mexico!

On February 11th, 2008 Longest Walk participants embarked on a 5 month
journey on foot from San Francisco to Washington D.C. arriving on July
11th. They are walking for protection of Mother Earth and Native American
rights. Clean up Mother Earth!

You can support the Longest Walk 2 by volunteering, making a financial
contribution, donating food or supplies, or by joining the walk!
