UNITED NATIVE AMERICAN ORGANIZATION (UNAO)
UNAO will be having a frybread sale on March 20, 2008
at the J.T. Paul Youth Detention Center. Volunteers and
Donations are greatly appreciated in order for this event to
be a success.
Their next meeting will be held until after the American
Indian Week on Monday April 7, 2008 at 5pm in the
Faculty Senate Chambers of Garcia Annex. They will
discuss the possibility of a camping trip in April. Everyone is
invited to attend the meeting!

NATIVE AMERICAN BUSINESS STUDENT ASSOCIATION (NABSA)
There will be a meeting on Thursday, March 20th
in the Faculty Senate Chambers, in Garcia Annex at 6pm.
Senators Jessica Butchko and Charlene Shroulote presenting separately
about the upcoming campaign for ASNMSU.
They will also pass on the final information of the Miss Native
American NMSU Pageant. If all goes well they will also officially
name the contestants. Hope to see you there!

AIP STUDENT RECOGNITION BANQUET
The Annual American Indian Program Student Recognition
Banquet will be held on Saturday April 19, 2008 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. at the Stan Fulton Center.
If you are graduating this spring or summer, please

information. Fall 2007 graduates are also encouraged to
do the same.

WASHINGTON INTERNSHIP FOR NATIVE STUDENTS (WINS)
Washington Internship for Native Students (WINS) is still
accepting applications for summer '08 internships in public
service. If you are a rising sophomore, or above, and are
looking to gain some professional experience, then contact
our offices at American University by phone at 1-800-853-3076
or 202-885-5934 or by email at wins@american.edu.
The program offers cost coverage of transportation to and
from D.C., housing, meal plan, tuition, books, and a small
stipend. The summer session is an eight week program with
some extensions for select internships. Most internships are
within the federal system, but some law firms and Native organizations
participate in WINS. Internships are offered fall,
spring and summer with an academic component of the
internship. WINS offers course work pertaining to federal
Indian policy during the summer for WINS participants. Fall
and spring participants are allowed to take classes from
American University's catalog. All credits are transferable
and it is recommended to inquire with home university on
rules and regulations of credit transfers.

AIGC: GRADUATE HORIZONS 2008
A Pre-Graduate school Program. For Native American,
Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native students. At the
University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ from July 12-15, 2008.
The Graduate Horizons Program is a four-day "crash course"
for Native college students, master's students or alumni to
help prepare them for graduate school (master's, Ph.D or professional
school).

DEBRA OROZCO MEMORIAL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP-2008
The Debra Orozco Memorial Leadership Scholarship ($200) is
awarded each spring to an NMSU sophomore or junior in
memory of Debra Rosas Orozco, who died of cancer in 1996.
As a fitting memorial, family, friends, colleagues and NMSU's
Greek community established this scholarship to recognize the
outstanding leadership potential and/or accomplishments of selected
NMSU students.
--Must be an NMSU main campus sophomore or junior (min.
of 28 to max. of 93 credit hours completed to date) with a min.
cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75.
--Be currently enrolled on main campus in at least 6 credit hours.
--Be planning to enroll in NMSU's main campus in the 2008
Fall semester.
--Demonstrate (through application materials) a significant
record of leadership (and/or potential for leadership),
and service

THE PIERCE AND BARBARA HUBBARD SCHOLARSHIP 2008
In honor of Barbara Hubbard and her distinguished services
to NMSU and the Las Cruces Community, friends, faculty,
students and staff established the Pierce and Barbara
Hubbard Endowed Scholarship fund. The recipient will receive
a scholarship award of $1400 and be known as a Hubbard Scholar.
--Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
on main campus.
--Must be planning to enroll on main campus for the
Fall 2008 semester.
--Must have a min. cumulative GPA of 2.5 from NMSU.

ROBERTS MEMORIAL STUDENT AWARDS - SPRING 2008
The Roberts Memorial Awards are presented each
year in memory of Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts,
who were killed in am automobile accident on July 8,
1978, near Green River, Wyoming. Stephen was a 1974
graduate of New Mexico State University, and Robert
was enrolled as an undergraduate student at the i
nstitution. In honor of their sons, George and Bernice
Roberts established an endowment, and each spring, the
NMSU main campus student who "has made the greatest contribution toward
enhancing the University's quality of life
over the past year" receives a check for $2,000. An award of
$1,000 is presented to the 2nd honoree. Students may
apply to be nominated.
--Must be enrolled at NMSU's main campus in at least
6 credit hours
--Must be in good academic standing and never been
under disciplinary sanction by the University.
--Must be pursuing a degree on the main campus of NMSU
--Must be planning to enroll at NMSU's main campus for
the entire 2008-2009 academic year (i.e. Fall 08 - Spring 09)
