How to Apply to the Graduate Program

How to apply
- Obtain an application from the graduate school. Send application, $30 (non-refundable), and one copy of official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work to the graduate school.
- Refer to the M.A. required materials page. Return the completed application to the department along with a letter addressing yout interests and graduate school objectives.
- Solicit letters of recommendation from three persons familiar with your academic record. Have them sent to the graduate advisor.
- You must have an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or higher for regular admission to the graduate school. Main Campus deadlines are rolling, Graduate Assistantship applications due February 15th for the Fall semester and October 15th for the Spring semester.
Financial Assistance
Students may apply for up to 20 hours (per week) of funding for teaching/research assistantships. Most assistantships are
half time (10 hours per week) and include a waiver for out-of-state tuition. Assistantships can be held for a maximum
of two years. To apply, check mark the appropriate box on the departmental application form and return to the department
by the admission deadline. Funding decisions will be based on previous academic record, the letters of reference and
personal statement of professional interests, experience and graduate study objectives.
