Isla Cilvituk, named for its location on an island in Laguna Silvituc,
was occupied from the time of the Maya collapse until the Spanish Conquest, AD
900-1525. The archaeological project explores how Maya householders used their
lacustrine setting to cope with the turbulent political and economic changes of
their time.
Isla Cilvituk, así llamada por estar localizada en una isla de la Laguna
Silvituc, fue ocupada desde el tiempo del colapso Maya hasta la conquista
española, 900-1525 d. C. El proyecto arqueológico explora como usaron los mayas
su ubicación lacustre para acomodarse a los turbulentos cambios
político-económicos de su época.
