Incompletes
If you are doing satisfactory work in a course but are unable to complete it due to circumstances beyond your control (for example, documented illness or family crisis) that arise after the last day to drop a class, the instructor may issue a grade of Incomplete (I). If this happens, it is your responsibility to talk to the instructor and see if he or she is willing to give you the I grade. An I grade does not give credit nor does it count in GPA calculation.
There are two ways of removing an I grade. Within a calendar year of receiving it, you may, with approval of the instructor, make up the work missed without re-enrolling in the course. In this case, the grade will be entered on the academic record in the semester the I was received. After a year, or if making up the work on an individual basis is impractical, you must repeat the class to earn credit for it. Then, the original I will remain on your record and the grade will be issued in the semester you repeated the course. The academic record will reflect the fact that an incomplete grade was issued and removed. If an incomplete grade is not made up, it remains on the record as an incomplete; it does not automatically change to an F, although the instructor may issue a failing grade if appropriate.
