Repeating Courses

If you receive a grade of D or F in a lower division course at NMSU, you may repeat the class. The second grade will replace the first in the GPA calculation. The original grade will remain on the academic record, but it will be indicated as a repeated course. If you need to repeat a class more than once, you may do so but only the original grade will be eliminated from the GPA. If you need to repeat an upper division class because it is specifically required for your degree, you may; but both grades will be included in the cumulative GPA. If you repeat a D grade, the credit will count only once. Grades of C or better may not be repeated. If you do need to repeat a lower-division course, you must take it at NMSU in order to have the second grade replace the first one. Transfer credit may not be used as a repeat.
