The S/U Option
Upon completion of 28 graded credits at NMSU with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, you have the option of taking certain courses S/U (satisfactory/unsatisfactory). There is no university policy that determines what is "satisfactory." Each instructor decides what is necessary for an S grade; however, Arts and Sciences policy states that an S is equivalent to a C or better for courses taught in the college.
Only courses outside your major or minor may be taken under the S/U option. For example, if you are a psychology major, you may not take any psychology courses S/U. You may, if you wish, take electives, or courses used to meet general education and college core requirements under this option.
