John Portisak
John was one of the founding fathers of this chapter. Unfortunately, John died of Epilepsy as a young man.

To honor and remember him, and to raise awareness about and funds for this disease the men of Theta Kappa sponsored a bike ride from Albuquerque to Las Cruces (about 230 miles) for over 20 years, until the State of New Mexico denied the fraternity proper permits to use certain roadways. In 2005, Alpha Tau Omega resumed the 230 mile bike ride to Albuquerque and raised money for the Nationaly Epilepsy Foundation.

Alpha Tau Omega teaches its members that giving back to the community is equally as important as strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. In 2001, nationally, the men of Alpha Tau Omega donated 188,740 hours to service and $882,847.57. Of those hours, the men of Theta Kappa donated 319
