What is Rush?
“Rush” is the word used by fraternities worldwide to describe their membership drive.

There are two types of Rush: formal and informal. Formal Rush happens at the beginning of each semester at NMSU and consists of organized and scheduled events by each fraternity for a specified period of time. Formal Rush concludes with a Bid Day, where fraternities extend invitations to men to join their fraternity.

Informal Rush is the fraternity’s ongoing effort to recruit new members. This happens year-round and with no set schedule of events and no formal Bid Day.
