Organizations for Black Students

Below is a list of organizations sponsored by Black Programs. For additional information, please stop by our office in Garcia Annex, rm 135 or email us at blackpro@nmsu.edu.

African Unity Club

The Unity Club strives to increase social and cultural awareness about African and African-American peoples. Some of the topics considered by the club include culture, dance, food, clothing and issues such as African-American history, politics and health. This club includes members of our Black Student Association.

NSBE

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a 501(C)(3) non-profit association that is owned and managed by its members. The organization is dedicated to the academic and professional success of African-American engineering students and professionals. NSBE offers its members leadership training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more. NSBE’s mission is "to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community."

Phi Beta Sigma

The purpose of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated is explained in our Motto "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity". Phi Beta Sigma is dedicated to strong bonds of brotherhood, living with integrity, serving humanity, promoting quality education and developing leaders.

Zeta Phi Beta

Zeta's national and local programs include endowment of its National Educational Foundation, community outreach services, and support of multiple affiliate organizations. Zeta chapters and auxiliary troops have given many hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities and promote legislation for social and civic change. A non-profit organization, Zeta Phi Beta is incorporated in Washington D.C. and in the state of Illinois . The Sorority is supported by the dues and gifts of its members.
