Scholarships For 2009
Scholarships Black Programs currently offers:
a) Book Scholarship for the fall and spring semester- this scholarship requires you be enrolled full time on main campus. Students MUST come by our office to fill out a form, take it to the bookstore on campus when they buy their books and return it to Black Programs department along with the receipt. Amount varies by fiscal year.
b) Martin Luther King, Jr Scholarship – For this scholarship we accept applications in the Spring semester for disbursement the following Fall. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship was created to honor the late civil-rights leader. It was established to provide financial support for African-American students at New Mexico State University who have proven potential to be leaders. Students must have completed at least 27 credit hours and have demonstrated leadership through a record of community service and participation in community and/or on-campus organizations.
Applicant must:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing at the main campus
- Be a United States citizen or legal resident
- Have a minimum 2.75 and above cumulative grade point average if a continuing student
- Preference to students of African-American decent
c) Wells Fargo Minority Leader Scholarship - For this scholarship we accept applications in the Spring semester for disbursement the following Fall. The Black Programs/Wells Fargo Scholarship was created to honor those who have been involved in community service and leadership roles. It was established to provide financial support for African-American students at New Mexico State University who have proven to be potential leaders. Students must have completed at least 24 credit hours and have demonstrated leadership through a record of community service and participation in community and/or on-campus organizations.
Applicant must:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student in good standing at the main campus
- Be a United States citizen or legal resident
- Have a minimum 3.0 and above cumulative grade point average
- Preference to students of African-American decent
