April 1 Special Regents Meeting: Budget Guidelines/Tuition & Fees approved
April 15 University Budget Committee meets and discusses process for making advisory recommendations
April 30 Deans/VPs submit budget reduction proposals to EVP/Provost or SVP/BFHR
May 7 Regents Meeting: Approve Operating Budget for FY11
May 12 University Budget Committee meets, Dean/VP ranked proposals due to Committee
May 18 Approve Guidelines and Timeline for FY11 I&G Budget Reduction

Approve general nature of central reductions

Review college/unit cut proposals in summary ; identify follow up questions
June 3 Receive centrally-proposed cut amount for administrative budgets

Set target total administrative cut for 6/30/10: any reduction above 4 percent will be placed in the reallocation pool

Prioritize College and Unit cuts within total administrative cut target
Obtain additional information as needed directly from Dean/VP presentations to UBC
June 4 Develop draft final administrative cut recommendation to the President at the detail level
June 9-revised Place draft final administrative cut recommendation on the Budget website

Announce internal hearing on June 15.
June 15 Hold internal hearing on perceived impact of cut proposals on administrative units: Comments may be in writing or presented in a ten-minute in person hearing before the UBC

Finalize administrative cut recommendation to President as a result of input
June 22 President approves final administrative cut recommendation
June 25 Budget Office informs Colleges/units of their FY11 I&G budget effective 7/1/10

As needed, HRS works with Departments.
July 20 SVP/BFHR presents Budget Adjustment Request to Regents for approval of impact of administrative budget reduction
September Review central and College cut proposals for academic programs
September 30 Prioritize College and Unit cuts within total academic cut target
October Hold internal hearing on proposed impact of central academic cut proposal
November Finalize academic cut recommendation at the detail level
Spring 2011 Hold reallocation pool request hearing from academic and administrative College/unit heads for FY12; hearings are dependent upon state appropriation reduction levels

 

Note:  Because the state has entered into current year reduction actions which are anticipated to be made permanent for FY12, the reallocation pool hearings are delayed until Spring, and may not be able to be conducted for FY11.
