BRIDGES PROGRAM FOR AMERICAN INDIANS IN
THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES
The Kellogg American Indian Bridges
Program invites Native American College Faculty to apply to its Native American
College Faculty Research Program at NMSU during Summer
The goal of the Kellogg Native American College Faculty
Research Program is to provide Native American college faculty from Southwestern
Indian Polytechnic Institute(SIPI), the Crownpoint Institute of Technology(CIT),
the Institute of American Indian Arts(IAIA), and Dine Community College at
Shiprock(DCCS) with an opportunity to conduct independent or joint research with
a NMSU faculty member for 4 to 10 weeks during the summer. In addition to
research, Native American college faculty participants are encouraged to engage
in a number of activities which promote curriculum development at tribal
colleges and professional development for tribal college faculty.
- Faculty
researchers have access to NMSU facilities, including the NMSU libraries and
computer resources.
- Faculty researchers may
attend NMSU courses offered during the summer sessions.
- Faculty researchers are
encouraged to develop new course curricula for their tribal colleges.
- Faculty researchers are
encouraged to work on publishable manuscripts.
- Faculty researcher attend
weekly lunches to discuss the progress of their research and to socialize with
fellow researchers.
- Researchers are invited to
attend lectures and give a lectures on the NMSU campus during the summer
session.
- Researchers present their
findings and progress to fellow researchers and faculty participants at the end
of the project period.
The Kellogg Bridges
Program provides the following to Faculty Researchers:
- $700 week stipend. Up to $7,000 will be
provided for researchers staying the entire 10 weeks.
- $500 housing stipend (pending approval).
- Tuition and books for one graduate
course at NMSU (pending approval).
- Basic research supplies.
