Our Purpose

New Mexico State University's Bridges Program for American Indian students in the social sciences and humanities is based on a partnership with four 1994 land-grand tribal colleges: Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (Albuquerque), Crownpoint Institute of Technology (Crownpoint), Institute of American Indian Arts (Santa Fe), and Diné College (Shiprock). The program's purpose is to strengthen educational functions at the tribal schools through faculty development and to facilitate student transfer to and retention at our mainstream institution.
