New Mexico State University Chicano Programs
Estás en tu casa en Programas Chicanos
We want Chicano Programs to be a "home away from home" for students. You might be a commuter student who could use a place to rest, study and eat. You might be living on campus and having a hard day. Maybe all you need is to have a trusted professional listen to what is going on and simply understand. We specialize in providing support for first-generation students in navigating university life, whether it be classroom expectations, financial aid or personal issues that affect your ability to succeed in school. You don't need a particular reason to come by Chicano Programs. Just come by and say "hi!"
"Chicano Programs is a support service that promotes and empowers all student success through education, advocacy and development of cultural literacy."
Chicano Programs is part of the Office of Student Diversity and Outreach (OSD). The OSD offices are part of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
What Is Chicano Programs?
Chicano Programs provides services to students of all races and ethnicities. The Hispanic student organizations that are members of Hispanic Council are open to full-time NMSU students of all races and backgrounds. We have members, officers and presidents of these organizations who are not Hispanic.
Services offered include informal advising; scholarships and financial aid information; office support for internship and scholarship seekers; a computer lab and lounge with internet access, productivity software, and a printer; and an informational email list for students.
