Lisa Bond-Maupin,

M.S.W., Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Criminal Justice

Hello and Welcome. This page is to tell you a bit more about me and how to reach me.

I have been at NMSU for 10 years. I love NMSU and am a rabid Aggie volleyball fan. We have a great team. Check it out. Dr. Maupin and I have raised our daughter here since kindergarten (she's now in high school). I love the community and am always really glad to get home whenever I travel. I am addicted to the sunshine here and would no longer be able to live anywhere else I'm afraid (except I'd love to have a second place in NYC if I won the lottery).

Lately I've been teaching less because I've been serving as the Director and Evaluator of a federally-funded violence prevention program for teens. Each day 20-30 teens come to campus for arts-based, hip-hop based, enrichment activities after school. If you want to know more about what these talented students have produced in our program, check out our website: www.aquisepuede.net.

When I teach, I usually teach graduate research methods, juvenile justice at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a special topics course on violence, and introductory criminal justice. I am also serving as the coordinator for the CJ Internship. I am involved in the community with groups advocating for incarcerated and marginalized youths. My research focuses mostly on the incarceration of youth in communities of color.

My office is located in Breland Hall 143. My office telephone number is (505)646-5386. My email is lbondmau@nmsu.edu and that is the best way to reach me.

          Cheers.
