“Steps” Along The Digital Pathway
The Criminal Justice Digital Pathways Program is designed for students who have completed the state common core (general education) requirements and lower division CJ requirements or who have earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Only upper division (300 and 400-level) courses are available in the online curriculum through NMSU’s Digital Pathways Program.
Step One
Options for completing lower division classes:
- Complete lower division courses from a tribal community college or any community college in New Mexico (either in person or online) including those in Alamogordo, Albuquerque, Carlsbad, Dona Ana and Grants. (Or enroll in person at NMSU main campus).
These lower division requirements include New Mexico General Education Common Core and 15 credit hours (5 courses) BCJ lower division requirements
Step Two
Transfer into NMSU:
After completing the lower division courses you:
- Transfer into NMSU’s Criminal Justice Digital Pathways Program and
- Complete your upper division requirements ONLINE from the comfort and convenience of your own community.
Step Three
Earn your BCJ from NMSU:
To earn your BCJ from NMSU you must have a total of 128 college degree credit hours and complete the following requirements through the Pathways program:
- Upper Division Courses
- CJ 300 Introduction to Criminal Justice Research
(May substitute SOC 352, GOV 300, PSY 310, or SWK 467)
- CJ 301 Advanced Research Methods
(May substitute any Introductory Statistics course)
- CJ 449 Senior Seminar – To be completed during the Senior year (90 or more earned credit hours)
