Hiring Manager Question and Answer Panel
On September 3rd, the E-council, along with the college of Engineering’s professional development office, held a head hunter question and answer session. At the session over 50 student attendees fielded questions to hiring managers from local companies, El Paso Electric, Western Refining, and Newtec, about the finer point of hunting heads. There was also pizza. The event was recorded and can be viewed at this link.
Homecoming Float
The Homecoming parade was October 31st. Thanks to those who helped, this year’s parade actually featured an engineering homecoming float. Sadly, there was nothing insulting to lesser majors, such as business, on the float… or was there…? In light of the generally un-offensive nature of the float, and the relatively few fatalities (less than 30%!) incurred while building, the homecoming float can only be considered a limb crushing success. The clubs ΆΠΜ, ΤΒΠ, ΠΤΣ, ΏΧΕ, AICHE, and SWE helped make this possible. Click here for more build and float pictures.
Eweek
For Engineer's Week this year we: showed Appaloosa, put on an engineering fair, grilled some burgers, sponsored the NAVSEA competition, and deflated some inflatable games. Our zero fatalities streak is now at three events! Congratulations to ASCE for crushing the Engineering Fair Competition, and to Alexandru Boje for sacrifing his body for science while discovering that grills are hot. If you got a bum gift card at NAVSEA contact Monica Lopez for a replacement.
