Biographical Statement
Rus Bradburd earned his MFA from New Mexico State University (NMSU) in 2002. He coached basketball at NMSU and at the University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP) for fourteen seasons. His fiction has appeared in Puerto del Sol, the Colorado Review, the Southern Review, and Aethlon, and his essays have appeared in SLAM and Bounce Magazines, as well as the LA Times and Houston Chronicle. Bradburd's memoir about coaching professional basketball in Ireland, Paddy on the Hardwood, was released in the Fall of 2006. His book about race and college athletics, Forty Minutes of Hell, ( HarperCollins / Amistad) will be released in February of 2010.
Rus is also the director and founder of "Basketball in the Barrio," which was the winner of NMSU's Social Justice Award in 2008.
