What is FarmHouse?
FarmHouse is an International men's fraternity. Established in 1905
at the University of Missouri, FarmHouse was formed by men studying
agriculture and related fields. FarmHouse is part of Greek communities
among colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada. But even
by its name, one can tell FarmHouse stands out from among the rest.
"Not the fraternity 'type'? You may be the FarmHouse
type!"
FarmHouse is the "Uncommon Fraternity". As an organization,
FarmHouse members have learned The Object, it's meaning, and
follow it everyday to its exact wording. FarmHouse is one of the few
non-alcoholic fraternities in the nation. We do not allow alcohol in
the houses, FarmHouse property, or at official functions. We do not
tolerate hazing of any kind. FarmHouse stresses the need for scholarship.
FarmHouse chapters rank among the highest in overall GPA at most schools
where chartered.
The NMSU chapter of FarmHouse was chartered in 1987. At NMSU, FarmHouse
takes an active part in the Greek community, Inter-Fraternity Council,
and the Agriculture and Home Economics college. Until May of 2000,
FarmHouse was on the NMSU campus at the Greek Complex, southwest of
the Aggie Memorial Stadium. However, we just entered into a lease-purchase
agreement for a house located at 2401 S. Espina St. We are very excited
about this because it gives us the opportunity to become our own landlord
and to start building equity. We believe this will help ensure the
long term viability of FarmHouse at NMSU. Change can be very difficult,
but our members are looking forward to adapting to a new living environment
while maintaining our high standards of academic excellence and community
service.
